“We want to be an example when it comes to sustainability and responsible production”

What can you tell us about the collection?

Yavuz Gunaydin: “We have a very extensive collection, from cowhides to fur. Custom work is important to us. We design a lot ourselves, but also in consultation with our customers. We love to combine tradition, innovation and creativity. Skilled craftsmanship and specialist knowledge are very important to us, which is why we produce everything by hand. Our carpets do not simply fit one style. They suit both a rustic and chic interiors.”

What are your sources of inspiration?

“Mainly magazines and from fashion. A lot of our ideas also originate from our travels and international fairs.”

What are the advantages of being an exhibitor at ETC Design Center Europe?

“Accessibility for the customers, for the designers. After a designer or stylist creates an interior plan, when you’re at the Expo you can implement that plan after only a day.”

How has the profession changed over the years?

“It has changed quite a lot. Retail stores are struggling due to online sales. In addition, stylists, designers and architects have become more and more important. Customers are increasingly interested in custom-made works, so standard products are being sold less and less. Seven or eight years ago we had a lot more in stock, in five dimensions and always received orders for one of those dimensions. These days ninety percent of our production is tailor made.”

What should customers take into account when deciding on a carpet?

“It’s important to pay attention to the service. Purchase a carpet from a supplier you like to do business with. Carpets are made to live on, so you really need to get comprehensive advice, which you can get at ETC Design Center Europe.
